"While some linkage is provided, these are, in fact, two independent Charlotte Diamond mysteries. If you like the longer form, this will be somewhat disappointing since the detailed characterizations and plot development of a novel are missing. If the form appeals to you, however, these should provide a good introduction to a promising "detective", retired FBI agent Diamond, as well as with her close friend, a retired Leading Lady of Films. The first story is set in Hollywood, where her friend has agreed to a cameo role in a movie to help out some former colleagues, and finds murder as well as a camera. In the second, Charlotte's ex-husband begs her help to find his missing wife who is being held until he can pay a debt he owes gangsters. Within the limitations of short story format, the writer creates interesting plots and characters, the first story is better than the second, and, provides a stimulus for further reading. Once again, plot and character development are sacrificed to the format; at the current $0.99 price it is a tasty morsel."

- WOW! My five stars are not enough of what I want to give, like 10 stars.
I didn't know how fierce the movie business is especially the actors, females and males. Then you have the makeup people and wardrobe people knowing everybody's personal business for blackmail, murder plots. Man the secrets people will do to protect them.
And how all these things Charlotte keeps getting dragged into. And once she gets out of one another pops up before she gets the first finished and a surprise from someone with alot of meaning to her comes back into her live that could affect her relationship with her woman Brenda.
Now you have to read this book to find out. You will not be sorry. YOU GOTTA READ THIS PLEASE!!! YOU WON'T SLEEP MUCH!
I DOUBLE DOG DARE YOU TO!!!!!!!! - This is an easy read. The plot, however, is a little bit two-dimensional. I was still expecting more when the story ended.
- I bought book 2 before reading book 1 so had to stop and start at the beginning. I would never have thought that this series of books had been written by a male. My hat, if I ever wore one goes off to him. The intimate moments between the 2 characters are lovely and so well done with just a look or a touch, I think it was the gentleness of the characters that I really enjoyed. As you progress thru the series there is more depth to the characters and their own foibles and insecurities begin to emerge. I wait eagerly for to make book 6 available as an e-book.
