Deborah MacCallister, head nurse at the Blessing hospital, has loved Toby Valders since her school days, but she's had enough of their on-again, off-again relationship. Toby truly cares for Deborah, but he's never felt like he could commit to marriage or a family.
When Anton Genddarm, the new schoolteacher, comes to town, the young women of Blessing see a chance to force Toby's hand with a little strategic matchmaking. But real sparks fly between Deborah and Anton, and she finds herself in an even more complicated situation. The attention she gets from Anton makes Toby do some serious soul-searching, but is it too late?
Then Deborah receives an invitation to study the latest advances in nursing at a hospital in Chicago, and she faces a hard choice. To leave or stay? Should she give up on the dream of Toby and accept the interest of Anton?

"Having read all of Lauraine Snelling's previous "Blessing" books, I couldn't wait for this latest book to come out. I made the mistake of reading some of the earliest reviews before purchasing it and was a little apprehensive, as the reviews weren't too great. I agree that it might be hard to follow for anyone who was starting from scratch and hadn't read the earlier books, especially in this series. However, after a bit of a slower start than usual, I found the book very enjoyable but maybe not quite up to the standard of some of the earlier volumes. I don't know if there are any more stories planned in this series, but I did not feel that this ended with the sense of not being able to wait for what comes next, as I did with the previous volume."

- Having read all of Lauraine Snelling's previous "Blessing" books, I couldn't wait for this latest book to come out. I don't know if there are any more stories planned in this series, but I did not feel that this ended with the sense of not being able to wait for what comes next, as I did with the previous volume.
- I was really disappointed in this last Song of Blessing book. It just ddn't tie everything together and complete the story. Astrid is finally pregnant but we don't know what she had. Manda and Zeb didn't come back for Deborah's wedding. Manda was her sister and should have been there. They had trains so travel shouldn't have been an issue. The worst was how the Valder storyline ended. I won't say how it ended so as not so spoil it for other readers.. This book just seemed really rushed like "oh I have to finish this set." Really a disservice to the Blessing franchise.
- This is a wonderful book! It's nice to see Toby Valders being the good guy for a change (he was the "mean kid" in earlier books and often had to chop wood for getting in fights at school, particularly with Andrew Bjorklund), and Deborah finally gets to be the main character (usually she's been a minor character or not mentioned at all). My only complaint is that there are still "mysteries" at the end that don't get resolved, like what happened to Anner Valders, and did Astrid have a boy or a girl? I understand this is supposed to be the last book about Blessing, ND, but I would like to see at least 1 more.
- This WHOLE series was wonderful. Snelling does an excellent job. The first books were the best of them all from being in the Netherlands to coming to US. One can so identify with the characters and incidents with blizzards and out breaks there is some historical bases. She did a good job of researching how things were done in the olden days and how things changed as the years went by. I was disappointed in the last book. It was to predictable and bit a of let down.
- I fell in love with the Bjorklands in the very first book and cried along with them in tragedy and strife. The people of Blessing have become my family through the years. Every year I have waited for the new book to come out so that I can catch up with the town and now there won't be another one. I am bereft. Thank you, Lauraine Snelling, for bringing this town and these wonderful people to life. I will miss them tremendously!
- Once again Lauraine Snelling does not disappoint. As with her entire Red River Valley series she makes you feel like the characters are people you would like to be friends with. Even though her books are fiction her characters seem like they truly are the people who homesteaded this region of North Dakota. I hope she will continue to tell the story of Ingeborg Bjorklund and all the other inhabitants of Blessing, North Dakota. I am not ready for this story to end.
- I am sorry to see the end of this series, but glad to have gotten to know these wonderful people. Just like real life, there are pieces we will never find out about in this life, but the message to trust God and keep praying is valid for us all.
This is Deborah's story. All her friends want to help her find love and a home, and all the plots and plans that result remind me that no one can change a man but God and the man himself. - Great book! Please Lauraine, keep the blessing books keep coming! hint, hint....how about a future with Ingaborg and David Gould?
