Bartlett Familiar Quotations Geoffrey O'Brien John Bartlett 9780316017596 Books Reviews

  • Between the 15th Edition and the 18th Edition..75 pages have been eliminated from the earliest times to Lincoln. I fear that some of the giants have been shrunk to make room for quotations of some of the pygmies that are more modern. The baby has been thrown out with the bathwater. The book continues to be indispensable...but keep your
old editions for ready reference with the new ones as you acquire them.
  • I have used the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations for years, and am presently using their most recent edition.
Bartlett's is far more comprehensive and includes many more of the words surrounding the actual quote so you can see it in context.
This adds impact and better understanding to the quotation itself.
  • This big book is a must have for quotation fans.

Why in the age of Google and an internet flooded with quotations sites would we need a big heavy book of quotations?

    One word serendipity.

With this great book, you can page through and randomly find amazing quotations. Or you can read the book in order, which is chronological. What a way to discover great thinkers, writers and statesmen!

I love to randomly open a page and just see what interesting quote I can find.

Of course the other reason to buy this book is organization.

It is well indexed by key word and also organized by whom is quoted, in chronological order.

What a fantastic desk-top resource this is.
  • Bartlett's is very 'familiar' to me, as my Mother used to read this all the time when we were growing up. It was always open and well-referenced for many years. As a result all of her (8) children LOVE it too.

I also believe Bartlett's Familiar Quotations shaped us into avid and curious readers. Highly recommend for every person/family.
  • I bought this because a character from the film "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" references it a lot, so I thought it'd be a cool read.
I have paged through it repeatedly now, and have yet to find an interesting quote. Each quote inside seems randomly chosen from a play or poem, none of which are profound in any way. Maybe there's a few buried inside, but needless to say this was money poorly spent.
Half the book is a useless glossary as well.

If you have a specific use for this book, buy it. For me it's just a doorstop.
  • This Bartlett's is a new version than the one I grew up with. It's still a fertile resource for much wisdom, humor, and plain old common sense. I've always liked the way it is collated, by date. I use quotes from it at least a couple of times a week what with the letters I send. Much wisdom in between its covers. A valuable resource. .
  • If you rely on the written or spoken word to sway the opinion of others, this is a must have for your reference resources.

While there are a number of online resources, they do not compare to having a hard copy on your desk. There are a number of problems with many of the online quote sources. The attribution is often questionable. Bartlett's is the authority on attribution.

The collection is in chronological order, alphabetical by author. There is an extensive index by subject matter. You should be able to find just the quote you are searching for in a matter of minutes.

I have found this to be an invaluabe resource.

I have also discovered many authors and philisophers that I wanted to learn more about from simply browsing through this collection.

There is nothing like the appropriate quotationn to give credibility to your speaking or writing. If you are serious about your work, you really should add this to your collection of resources.
  • Caveat Emptor!
I got hornswoggled by this one!
This is NOT *the* Bartlett's Familiar Quotations that you grew up with. It is, however, a facsimile reprint of the first edition of Bartlett's Familiar Quotations. So, it is only good if you are 1) curious about the first edition, 2) a hard-core quote-ophile, or 3) cheap, like I was.
This book is not a complete waste, and I didn't return it, since it does have some uses, such as for casual browsing, a cheap gift to an ex or in-law, or even as a bathroom book.
(I can't believe that we have a word for such books!)
The draw backs to this book are that there is no order to the quotes. He starts out with obvious Shakespeare, but everything else is somewhere between haphazard and helter-skelter. Most of the sections are lines from long-forgotten poems that were old in Bartlett's day. There is also no index. Craziness! But probably industry standard in the 1800's.
The cover is very bland--white, with the the title in black and Brady Bunch Orange. Nice conservative colors, such as deep blues or greens, with a marble frame-border would help this book out.
So, if you want a cheap gift or a mediocre/next to useless quote-book, buy this book. But if you want the Bartlett's you grew up with, get the expensive hardbound.

  • Cuando un libro se convierte en un clásico normalmente es por algo.
Maravillosa historia del mundo, breve pero muy didáctica.
Libro muy recomendable para los amantes de la historia o para aquellos que quieran empezar a conocerla.
  • Very good

"Three years of captivity among the Patagones" is an exceptional ethnological document, but to its documentary value it adds the attraction and intensity of an adventures novel. It narrates the extraordinary experience of Auguste Guinnard, a young French immigrant who, around 1850, gets lost in the Pampas and is captured by native tribes who considered every foreigner a foe. Bound to a cruel slavery among the last nomads of Patagonia, Guinnard, was forced to sleep in the ground, and survive naked feeding from raw meat and fresh blood. In spite of being despised, and often chastised even by children, he became a privileged witness to alternate scenes of peace and violence. In his narration he details both the domestic habits of the various tribes with whom he lived, as well as the return of the "malones" and the horrid fate reserved to captives, male and female. Permanently risking death, most of the time hopeless, Guinnard finally managed to flee in a horrendous night and day galloping horse ride. This extraordinary adventure narration was first published in France with great success in the Le Tour du monde magazine. Even French writer Jules Verne, one of its passionate readers, was inspired by Guinnard to set the beginning of "The children of Captain Grant" in Patagonia. Guinnard's book is one of the most important and original documents facilitating a better understanding of a key moment in the Argentine past, when two antagonistic life conceptions, one European, sedentary and in need of peace conditions to flourish, and the other, indigenous and nomadic, and dependent of bellicose habits in order to keep control of its vast territories, attempted an almost impossible coexistence This new Spanish edition, translated from the French original, annotated and with a foreword by Sorbonne researcher prof. Jean-Paul Duviols, constitutes a valuable addition to the existing bibliography, making a great reading for any course dealing with the "indian issue" of the South American Pampas.

Porsche 911 Story The entire development history Paul Frere 9781859608395 Books Reviews

  • OK, I know nothing about the mechanics of the automobile, well almost nothing, but this book is very interesting and incredible in it's detail. I am a HUGE Porsche 911 fan and it's very cool to read about the history and read the DNA on this amazing car. I loved the rich and beautiful pictures and it was cool that many of the cars were more of the modern type. I would not say this book focuses on the older models. Enjoyment for any 911 or Porsche fan !
  • I don't know what I was expecting but it is written more like product brochures than car reviews out of EVO.
In fact I don't know if much of what is written about was driven or experienced and there aren't interviews
    with many people.
If you want a fact book you'll probably be happy. If you want a story I think you will be disappointed - despite
    the title.
  • Great book. Awesome level of detail. I've used it a a technical reference when talking about Porsche transmissions.
  • This is a technical book that is not for the average auto enthusiast. This book details the year by year development of all the systems, from engine to suspension to body shell design. It's a must have for the hard core Porschophile.
  • Splendid book. The history is tell from the point of view of a porschist - with richness of intimate details about the evolution of the motor, the gear box and so on. Porsche is a real darwinian specie of car and is a awesome experience to read this book.
  • Exactly as described
  • Excellent compilation of porsche 911 history contains many great technical details and includes good racing information. Very good reference for people restoring real 911s.
  • Great book and great read if you are in love with Porsches! Even covers the new 991 models and has lots of pictures.

Advanced Digital Black White Photography John Beardsworth 9781454704195 Books Reviews

  • This is the one book you want if you need a "software how-to guide" for all of the most popular methods used to create B&W photographs from color originals. Not only is John a very good photographer (and a good guy for any who follow him online), but he covers each technique in enough depth that you can understand which is going to be best for you or best for a particular situation. The usual suspects are here like the Photoshop BW Adjustment and Channel Mixer Adjustment, but what I really like are the harder-to-find insights like using Lightroom's local adjustment tools to Dodge and Burn selective areas of a raw photograph. That's really good stuff you won't find in too many other tutorials.

Another great thing about this book that makes it stand above the usual Kelby fair is the production quality. Really nice quality paper, well laid out, easy to find what you need and easy to read. All in all this is the best BW resource I've found in book format and highly recommend it over other books that may be more "famous" but which give a superficial treatment to this important photographic process (now digitized).
  • Got the book 5 days later, in perfect time. The book shows no wear which is great, as product states, used like new just shelf wear which is basically a new book. I've been wanting this book for a couple years now and I finally decided to get it. Thank you for selling it!
Also, this book is a great, I highly recommend anyone to read this should they want to explore into more digital black and white photography. Even if the photos inspire you to take certain photos that the photographers have provided, it has nothing to do with it digitally if inspiration is what you are looking for. This book has it!
  • I would like to share with another (even potential) customers my experience from the first reading of this book. It is very good and well positioned essential of everything most important about B&W photography, very transparent and helpful. Thanks Jiri Pavel, Czech republic
  • What a great book for a first-timer into the wonderful realm of beautiful B&W imagery. The layout of the book is designed with simplisity in mind, yet it actually goes quite deep into several applications and their use with the conversion of colour images into B&W. Each page is well presented so that the reader can follower can the simple guide into how to create excellent images. From beginning to end, the book is full of details that can help any photographer, novice or professional, in producing images that will stand out amongst the 'average' B&W image. If you want a book that delivers what it says it can, then this is the book for you . . it's definitely money well spent.
  • I enjoyed this book and learned a lot from it. However, the newest version of Lightroom (and probably Aperture, too, though I have no direct experience with this) can now do most of what Photoshop can do for the vast majority of situations in black-and-white conversion and post-processing. Considering the huge price difference between these software packages, I would've really appreciated it if the author paid more attention to the techniques of black-and-white post-processing for the rest of us, i.e. those of us unready to shell out $600 on a Photoshop license. Maybe in the *next* edition....?
  • Well organized with step by step points for the numerous processes for converting color images to B&W; and well illustrated. Illustration could have benefitted with larger photos the size of the "Final Image" for comparisons. Also has recommendations for choosing particular processes. More than what is acceptable typos. And, what seemed like at least one misplaced photo illustration, which a beginning digital photographer might have difficulty with.
  • BRAND NEW BOOK ARRIVED PROMPTLY. ENJOYING READING IT , A LITTLE BIT EACH DAY. THANK YOU.
  • The best book on Black and White conversions I have found.

Introduccion a la historia de la lengua espanola Spanish Edition Resnick Books Reviews

  • This is a good book to have if you are teaching the subject.. The information is well arranged and clear, and the questions and exercises are very good. The teacher is free to select portions of the text as required. It has served me well so far.
  • This book is a treasure.
  • Excelente produto. Tudo certo na compra e na entrega. Ótima comunicação com o vendedor. Recomendo o vendedor a todos !!
  • Melvyn Resnick's "Introduccion a la historia de la lengua espanol" takes the reader on a fairly abbreviated tour of the plethora of changes that the Spanish language has experienced over the centuries. The book, published in 1981, has apparently not been updated at all since then; the font looks like it came right off an electronic typewriter, and nothing has been done to improve this lack of aesthetic appeal.

Resnick breaks down the history of Spanish into seven short chapters a brief historical overview, reaching back as far as the proto-Indo-Europeans on the Iberian Peninsula; two separate chapters on foreign influences (one group, ancient, and the other, more recent additions to the vocabulary); Latin as the basis for Spanish; phonology; morphology; and history and dialects.

This book is clearly destined for use in conjunction with a course. If the reader does not have a fair command of Latin, it will present a greater challenge to read, although many of the examples give the phonological and morphological shifts from Classical Latin to Vulgate to Old Spanish to Modern Spanish.

A frustrating side to this book is the exercises that appear throughout the text, particular in the chapter on phonology. There is a key to some of the questions, but others are left up to the student (who, presumably, is working with a teacher). Anyone who hopes to go through the exercises on his/her own may come away a bit frustrated.

The most thorough chapter deals with phonology and the 33 transformational rules (e.g., how "cogitare" came to be "cuidar"). That said, it is also the part of the book that may perplex the reader who has little or no background in Latin. The chapter on morphology is also interesting, though syntax is virtually ignored. Perhaps the highlight of the book is the section on lexical additions through borrowing from different sources (in both the Old and New Worlds) and various other means (derivational morphology, for example).

"Introduccion" is just that -- an introduction -- but it is up to the reader to build on that base independently and at a later date.

"This is an excellent introduction to twentieth century "catholic" ecclesiology from de Lubac to Zizioulas. Like everything in his life, becoming a billionaire was easy for Elliott Becker. He bought some land in Massachusetts and discovered he sat on two billion dollars worth of rare Goshen stone. Lucky, charming, and blessed with every gift from every god, Elliott expects his simple purchase of property in Barefoot Bay will go the way everything does for him in life...easy. Until he meets the woman who currently owns that land and suddenly everything is...hard.

Frankie Cardinale's fondest memories took place on the tiny goat farm owned and run by her "Nonno" in the heart of Barefoot Bay. As a child, the farm and its precious residents were a refuge for her after her parents died and her grandfather taught her all about "the sweet life" of raising goats. While she held her Nonno in her arms on his deathbed, she promised his land would never leave their family and that she would continue his legacy. Nothing -- not even a sexy, playful, intoxicating billionaire who always gets his way -- will convince her to break that promise.

Except Elliott Becker is a man who always gets what he wants even if that means a little seduction and double-crossing of a humble goatherd. But will his lucky streak hold long enough to keep him from making the biggest mistake of his life? Because all the money in the world can't buy him what he really wants the most...her love.

Amanda has fallen from grace. A former beauty queen, the most popular girl in High School, married to a rich man … she seemed to have it all. But looks can be deceiving. Trapped in the hell that manifested in the form of a pre-nup from her marriage, she is fighting to move on. Reduced to working as a maid in a hotel in her hometown and living in her parents’ house again, Mandy is working as hard as she can to get her life back together. Hind sight is a wonderful thing. Maybe the bitchy little thing she was in High School and the good fortune she took for granted has now come back to bite her in the ass. This wasn’t the life that she had, that she wanted. When a sexy a hell, super rich man walks into her life, she wants nothing to do with him. Men like him are exactly what doesn’t want anymore; what she CAN’T stand anymore. It doesn’t matter that he ends up being a former classmate, the biggest geek in school turned Adonis. Besides, with as rude as she was to people in that life, he probably hates all of his awful memories of her.

Zeke is floored when he realizes the maid in his suite is Mandy Mitchell; object of his High School infatuation. He doesn’t know her story, but he knows he doesn’t desire her any less; more, in fact. When an accidental situation occurs and Mandy ends up losing her job, Zeke sets out to make things right. He has bigger plans involving Mandy, but he has to find a way to prove to her that he isn’t what she thinks him to be. He could be exactly what she needs, but her built up walls discolor her budding feelings, leading her to assume the worst in several cases. But Zeke isn’t about to let this chance with Mandy go down the drain without a fight involving a mind blowing, nerve tingling, sensual assault on both her senses and the heart he has to break through to.

So, funny story. I chose to read Ms. St.Claire because of her name. My maiden name is St.Clair, so I went straight to it when I saw it. One of those things you can’t help. But I am really happy I did. This book had everything I enjoy in a story. The whole rich guy swooping in to save everything is a little cliché, but I think we all enjoy it anyway. Who wouldn’t want that to really happen? I wouldn’t be turning it down! Zeke is the kind of guy we can all love and appreciate. Under dog turned top dog. He has used his intelligence to make a name and a fortune for himself. His geek persona traded in for a strong, confident, gorgeous man. I think what endeared me toward him the most, wasn’t only that he had beaten the odds and become successful, but that he didn’t lose sight of who he was even after the success. Mandy, I liked because she was broken. Broken, but with a new sense of purpose. She had a weakness in character that made her believe everything she was going through was some sort of karma payback. A bit of an annoying trait actually, but she still had dreams and ambition despite being beaten down. I think she feels like she doesn’t deserve Zeke and so she continues to shut him out by likening him to her ex despite the vast differences; opposite they are, really.
This book was a quick read with some pretty steamy scenes. I truly enjoyed my time spent with this book and the characters. *whispers* In fact, I put off something else I should have done, just to read this book in one setting. I was happy to see, when researched, that Ms. St. Claire has an entire line of Barefoot books. I am going to research a bit further because I found that I liked several of the secondary characters. I know that Beckett is the MC in the second book in this series. However, in reading about two of the other couples, I felt that they must have stories of their own somewhere in Ms. St. Claire’s world. If not, pity. But I hope such is not the case. Happy reading all! And check out this book. I think you’ll be pleasantly entertained.

Secrets on the Sand The Barefoot Bay Series Roxanne St Claire 9781500359829 Books Reviews

  • I've discovered that sometimes when you give a review--you get a stalker ;) The main criticism I received was that 'you only give 5-star reviews' which is true. But in the last few months, I've read over 70 books and only reviewed the ones I truly loved. Like this one. I read reviews like a number of people and it's difficult to distinguish how good a book is by the high praise the book receives. I didn't obtain this book as an ARC and I don't know this or any Author. I enjoyed the story, the characters and the way the plot moved. One criticism I do add--it was too short, but that was because I loved the characters so much I wanted to keep reading about them.

A few "critics" have complained about the h not being likable. I'm wondering what book they read? I know if I'm in a bad mood that I'll relate that to what I'm reading or watching but I wouldn't denigrate anyone's work because of me. Mandy was clear about her faults in high school and the fact that she had been kind to others (rarely) did speak well when life dealt a comeuppance to her. I've met her real-life counterparts and some were humbled by life experiences. Some pretended to be what they thought they were in school. I liked Amanda 'Mandy' for whom she became--or was so very close to becoming. I could see the attraction for her.

The book was great and worth the purchase. The ones that rated the book lower apparently related to the mean girl Tori who never grew up or became any better than she was in high school.

    Yep--5-star rating is correct.
  • Enjoyed the story. Our was nice to read a love story without pages of graphic sex scenes. The characters were somewhat shallow but ok.

  • So far this has been a fine read. I would recommend this for either right- before- bed, or on the beach, a quiet afternoon, etc. There are quite a few dynamic features to the story line. A few twists and tunes, and the characters are pretty well developed. There are a few parts that could be edited slightly better, but I do know most authors on here prefer for their readers to help them out in this aspect.
It was not hard reading by any means, but it was also not an elementary level book. Be prepared for some love scenes. But honestly, sometimes they do add to the storyline, right?
I hope to either purchase more in this series (if there is one) or get the author motivated to write more! Not that this was left with just a cliffhanger or anything, I have just loved how the storyline was developed, and would love to know where this could head into the future. Knowing how the characters have developed, interacted, and have grown leaves me with a lot of hope for more. I always love series/ books where there is a spin- off into a similar setting, but with acquaintances that the characters had, or will have.
Overall, this is a great value and I would highly recommend it. It is a great value for the price, and it simply cannot be beat! I will be purchasing more from this author in the future, and look forward to new releases.

Read Effi Briest German Edition Theodor Fontane 9783849690120 Books

"This edition excels in many aspects: the text, the translation, the introduction and the notes. You will find not a 19th century novel but one from the 20th, written in advance. Fontane doesn't show you directly the action but let you see everything in the mirror of the consequences, attitudes, and symbols. I dare say is cinematographic, also in advance. In Kurosawa's Seven Samurai, there is a very famous scene when the camera doesn't show the action but the nervous slide of one character's eyes observing it, and you feel the same emotion as if you were witnessing the fact. You can find a lot of this in Effi Briest. Sometimes you feel that nothing is happening in the clean text but everything in the story. That is subtlety, finesse, you call it. Effi is one the more genuine characters I ever met. I am writing this, feeling her sorrow.

If you love Mann, you can find the deep influence of Effi Briest in his Buddenbrook's saga. Even a character with that name appears in Effi. Mann also hides to the reader the fact, the action, but the reader is able to have a very clear idea of what's happening. Tony have a lot of Effi's charming facets and Thomas is near to Geert. The maids are also great characters, and reminds me Proust's Françoise.

I strongly recommend to go directly to the novel, finish it and then read the introduction. This way you will feel the glee of deeper understanding without knowing in advance some facts of the plot, and the possible meaning of some symbols. Helen Chambers knows pretty well her stuff. It is as perfect introduction as a dessert. The notes are really good but unfortunately didn't appear the links to them in the text, in my iPad, and I had to go to Wikipedia often.

Two final words (I could talk for hours about Effi Briest). First, this is a novel about human rights, women's rights. Second, very related, is a strong critic to Kantianism. I used to love Kantian moral philosophy when I was around eighteen. Passing time I began to relate it with stiffness and mediocrity. This novel, the very end of it, notwithstanding its half farce tone, is a manifesto against the Kantian way to deal with life, which has deep consequences in social and political matters. We, human beings, are only amateurs, good sports at the best, in moral issues; we can't really believe we can decide as if we were professional rulers about absolutes values. To rely on that, to judge and live relying on that, it's only possible, and even plausible, for those totally deprived of the feeling of love. But "that's too vast a subject."

What would occurred to me if I would read Effi in my younger days?"

Effi Briest German Edition Theodor Fontane 9783849690120 Books Reviews

  • I am disappointed in this edition of Efii Briest. The footnotes are quite helpful, but it is an exaggeration to call this a side by side edition as large portions of the text are not translated and so the German text sits on the left side and after a cursory summary of what happens (in just a fewlines) there is blank white space on the right for several pages. While translations of this in English are available, the whole point of this (I thought) is to give people who are working on learning German a comparison text to look at. (If this is a pedagogic decision then atleast if could be explained and defended in some kind of foreward, and then the blank pages could have notes about translation issues and aids to students, but instead the reader is simply confronted with empty pages. The book is a large format, (which is nice), but I can't really recommend it.
  • This version FULL of typos! Starting several pages in "th" converts to "di" "than" becomes "dian" and "other" becomes "odier". Effi Briest
  • Theodor Fontane was a wonderful writer. In a subtle & disarming way, he addresses social, political, geographical, & personal issues. He wrote in a way that illuminated the cultural influences in the Brandenburger March & the rapid changes that were underway at his time. He did this through what seems to be a simple story-telling style, but his use of language was highly crafted, and he never told his readers what to think. The individuals essentially led their lives as they had to, because of who they were. Violence (in the form of a duel) & sexual content (an affair) are dealt with as expressions of the characters' emotions, but there are no graphic descriptions of the actual events. Those events occur fleetingly, becoming part of the causality of later events. Much has been said in comparing Effie Briest to Flaubert's Madame Bovary; but Effie is a far more innocent person whose life is ruined by her own behavior, for which she accepts responsibility, while Emma Bovary is so narcissistic that one cannot empathize with her. Even the characters who might have been treated like villains by other writers are presented without florid descriptions; rather, they, too, are just who they are.Until I bought this volume, I'd read Fontanne only in wonderful translations from the German, which left me wondering whether I'd gotten the full sense of his writing. I am delighted that I now have further insight into the craft of this fine writer.
  • Please note, I haven't finished the book itself. The two stars is only related to typos on the edition. There are at least 162 typos in the first chapter. It's quite obvious the book was simply scanned and transcribed by a computer, as specific pages have consistent typos ('th' is regularly mis-copied as 'di'). If you're looking for Effi Briest on , I suggest you avoid this version.

EDIT In addition, the entirety of chapter 11 is missing. In its place is a paragraph summary of the actual events.

What would occurred to me if I would read Effi in my younger days?

Fear has a color. It’s the gruesome glow of yellow, wielded by the totalitarian tyrant Sinestro and his Yellow Lanterns. And now the entire universe is bathed in its sinister light. The Sinestro Corps have replaced the Green Lanterns as the peacekeepers of the galaxy.

Oa, the homeworld of the Guardians and their Green Lantern Corps, is no more. In its place at the center of the universe orbits Warworld, Sinestro’s home base. The Green Lanterns have vanished, leaving no one to oppose the Sinestro Corps’ reign of terror.

No one, that is, except the last Lantern Hal Jordan.

Convicted of crimes he didn’t commit, reduced to a being of pure thought and will, Hal must now battle back from the brink to reform the Corps and free all of creation from his archenemy’s iron fist.

"A solid green lantern run that suffers from a pacing issue, a common problem all rebirth trades seem to suffer from. Other than that Robert Venditti seems to really love all of the green lanterns and their mythos. I would go as far as to say this is my number 2 in rebirth."

Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps Vol 1 Sinestro Law Rebirth Robert Venditti Rafa Sandoval Ethan Van Sciver Books Reviews

  • This trade reignited my love for the world of Green Lantern. It could be the Van Sciver art or the return to the feeling that you are witnessing space opera on a grand scale. I hope Venditti can keep this momentum up. It takes me back to the Geoff Johns days.
  • A riproaring beginning to DC's space opera. I really enjoyed the reintroduction of Hal Jordan as the ultimate jet jockey in space, flying by the skin of his teeth and letting the bad guys have it. Sinestro is, of course, the best way to introduce the new story who better than the oldest bestest arch-enemy? This story arch is exciting and on the universal scale that we expect from Hal Jordan in Space. Good stuff and the beginning of a fun series.
  • A love this book. Sinestro. Hal Jordan. A nice starting point for your reading enjoyment of future Green Lantern stories.
  • A solid green lantern run that suffers from a pacing issue, a common problem all rebirth trades seem to suffer from. Other than that Robert Venditti seems to really love all of the green lanterns and their mythos. I would go as far as to say this is my number 2 in rebirth.
  • Great comic and deal
  • I have been a Hal Jordan Green Lantern enthusiast long before Geoff Johns came along and had an AMAZING run on the character starting with Green Lantern Rebirth... and here we are with Vendittis BEST arc yet Green Lantern Rebirth. This one is right up there with Geoff Johns run. Venditti has steadily gotten better and better with almost every arc (though i do think Godhead was better than Renegade). His writing on this one makes me excited to see what's coming next. I highly suggest people check his one out... ESPECIALLY those that left Green Lantern when Geoff Johns left
  • Great to see the Corps getting after Sinestro. Well written and well drawn.
  • I love Green Lantern, and this just made me want to read so much more. I absolutely loved it.
