Like everything in his life, becoming a billionaire was easy for Elliott Becker. He bought some land in Massachusetts and discovered he sat on two billion dollars worth of rare Goshen stone. Lucky, charming, and blessed with every gift from every god, Elliott expects his simple purchase of property in Barefoot Bay will go the way everything does for him in life...easy. Until he meets the woman who currently owns that land and suddenly everything is...hard.
Frankie Cardinale's fondest memories took place on the tiny goat farm owned and run by her "Nonno" in the heart of Barefoot Bay. As a child, the farm and its precious residents were a refuge for her after her parents died and her grandfather taught her all about "the sweet life" of raising goats. While she held her Nonno in her arms on his deathbed, she promised his land would never leave their family and that she would continue his legacy. Nothing -- not even a sexy, playful, intoxicating billionaire who always gets his way -- will convince her to break that promise.Â
Except Elliott Becker is a man who always gets what he wants even if that means a little seduction and double-crossing of a humble goatherd. But will his lucky streak hold long enough to keep him from making the biggest mistake of his life? Because all the money in the world can't buy him what he really wants the most...her love.Â

Amanda has fallen from grace. A former beauty queen, the most popular girl in High School, married to a rich man … she seemed to have it all. But looks can be deceiving. Trapped in the hell that manifested in the form of a pre-nup from her marriage, she is fighting to move on. Reduced to working as a maid in a hotel in her hometown and living in her parents’ house again, Mandy is working as hard as she can to get her life back together. Hind sight is a wonderful thing. Maybe the bitchy little thing she was in High School and the good fortune she took for granted has now come back to bite her in the ass. This wasn’t the life that she had, that she wanted. When a sexy a hell, super rich man walks into her life, she wants nothing to do with him. Men like him are exactly what doesn’t want anymore; what she CAN’T stand anymore. It doesn’t matter that he ends up being a former classmate, the biggest geek in school turned Adonis. Besides, with as rude as she was to people in that life, he probably hates all of his awful memories of her.
Zeke is floored when he realizes the maid in his suite is Mandy Mitchell; object of his High School infatuation. He doesn’t know her story, but he knows he doesn’t desire her any less; more, in fact. When an accidental situation occurs and Mandy ends up losing her job, Zeke sets out to make things right. He has bigger plans involving Mandy, but he has to find a way to prove to her that he isn’t what she thinks him to be. He could be exactly what she needs, but her built up walls discolor her budding feelings, leading her to assume the worst in several cases. But Zeke isn’t about to let this chance with Mandy go down the drain without a fight involving a mind blowing, nerve tingling, sensual assault on both her senses and the heart he has to break through to.
So, funny story. I chose to read Ms. St.Claire because of her name. My maiden name is St.Clair, so I went straight to it when I saw it. One of those things you can’t help. But I am really happy I did. This book had everything I enjoy in a story. The whole rich guy swooping in to save everything is a little cliché, but I think we all enjoy it anyway. Who wouldn’t want that to really happen? I wouldn’t be turning it down! Zeke is the kind of guy we can all love and appreciate. Under dog turned top dog. He has used his intelligence to make a name and a fortune for himself. His geek persona traded in for a strong, confident, gorgeous man. I think what endeared me toward him the most, wasn’t only that he had beaten the odds and become successful, but that he didn’t lose sight of who he was even after the success. Mandy, I liked because she was broken. Broken, but with a new sense of purpose. She had a weakness in character that made her believe everything she was going through was some sort of karma payback. A bit of an annoying trait actually, but she still had dreams and ambition despite being beaten down. I think she feels like she doesn’t deserve Zeke and so she continues to shut him out by likening him to her ex despite the vast differences; opposite they are, really.
This book was a quick read with some pretty steamy scenes. I truly enjoyed my time spent with this book and the characters. *whispers* In fact, I put off something else I should have done, just to read this book in one setting. I was happy to see, when researched, that Ms. St. Claire has an entire line of Barefoot books. I am going to research a bit further because I found that I liked several of the secondary characters. I know that Beckett is the MC in the second book in this series. However, in reading about two of the other couples, I felt that they must have stories of their own somewhere in Ms. St. Claire’s world. If not, pity. But I hope such is not the case. Happy reading all! And check out this book. I think you’ll be pleasantly entertained.

Secrets on the Sand The Barefoot Bay Series Roxanne St Claire 9781500359829 Books Reviews
- I've discovered that sometimes when you give a review--you get a stalker ;) The main criticism I received was that 'you only give 5-star reviews' which is true. But in the last few months, I've read over 70 books and only reviewed the ones I truly loved. Like this one. I read reviews like a number of people and it's difficult to distinguish how good a book is by the high praise the book receives. I didn't obtain this book as an ARC and I don't know this or any Author. I enjoyed the story, the characters and the way the plot moved. One criticism I do add--it was too short, but that was because I loved the characters so much I wanted to keep reading about them.
A few "critics" have complained about the h not being likable. I'm wondering what book they read? I know if I'm in a bad mood that I'll relate that to what I'm reading or watching but I wouldn't denigrate anyone's work because of me. Mandy was clear about her faults in high school and the fact that she had been kind to others (rarely) did speak well when life dealt a comeuppance to her. I've met her real-life counterparts and some were humbled by life experiences. Some pretended to be what they thought they were in school. I liked Amanda 'Mandy' for whom she became--or was so very close to becoming. I could see the attraction for her.
The book was great and worth the purchase. The ones that rated the book lower apparently related to the mean girl Tori who never grew up or became any better than she was in high school.
Yep--5-star rating is correct. - Enjoyed the story. Our was nice to read a love story without pages of graphic sex scenes. The characters were somewhat shallow but ok.

version purchased for personal library - So far this has been a fine read. I would recommend this for either right- before- bed, or on the beach, a quiet afternoon, etc. There are quite a few dynamic features to the story line. A few twists and tunes, and the characters are pretty well developed. There are a few parts that could be edited slightly better, but I do know most authors on here prefer for their readers to help them out in this aspect.
It was not hard reading by any means, but it was also not an elementary level book. Be prepared for some love scenes. But honestly, sometimes they do add to the storyline, right?
I hope to either purchase more in this series (if there is one) or get the author motivated to write more! Not that this was left with just a cliffhanger or anything, I have just loved how the storyline was developed, and would love to know where this could head into the future. Knowing how the characters have developed, interacted, and have grown leaves me with a lot of hope for more. I always love series/ books where there is a spin- off into a similar setting, but with acquaintances that the characters had, or will have.
Overall, this is a great value and I would highly recommend it. It is a great value for the price, and it simply cannot be beat! I will be purchasing more from this author in the future, and look forward to new releases.
